36th Annual Ocean County Decoy & Gunning Show

Join us as we celebrate the 36th anniversary of the Decoy and Gunning Show during this exciting two day event on Saturday, September 29th and Sunday September 30th, highlighting the culture of the area!

Demonstrations, contests, seminars, decoy auction, crafters, carvers, vendors, food, refreshments, music, entertainment, and lots of fun! Dock Dog Competition as featured on ESPN! Two great locations: Tip Seaman County Park and Tuckerton Baymen's Museum. This event is free and open to the public!

4th Annual Makers Festival

On September 15th 2018, The MakeShift Union is hosting the 4th Annual Makers Festival at Manahawkin Lake Park in Manahawkin NJ. The mission of our festival is to highlight the underground current of Makers who are changing the landscape of production & consumerism in America, and more specifically, Ocean County where we live, work & play. It will be a day to celebrate the collective artistic endeavors of homegrown talent locally & beyond, and will feature over ten dozen Makers whose crafts include everything from handmade & vintage fashion, sculpting & woodworking, photography & fine art, craft beer, food and music.

A portion of event proceeds benefit David's Dream & Believe Cancer Foundation, scholarships at both Southern Regional High School & Pinelands Regional High School, and the Stafford Historical Society.

LBI Museum Mission Statement

The Long Beach Island Historical Association collects, preserves and interprets the history of Long Beach Island through its educational programs, guest lecturers, walking tours, special events and an ever growing research center. The museum, situated at the center of Beach Haven’s Historic District, showcases 24 exhibits which includes over 450 photographs and hundreds of artifacts for the sole purpose of encouraging the public to not only understand our island’s rich history but also to appreciate the people and events who helped in shaping its character.

Ship Bottom Flea Market

Join the Kiwanis Club of Long Beach Island for the Annual Ship Bottom Flea Market on August 16, 2018 at the Ship Bottom Boat Ramp. Flea market will open at 8:00 a.m. through 3:00 p.m. with special finds for everyone. There will be over 60 vendors with many different items and supports scholarships and citizenship awards to many of our Ocean County students each year. For more information visit their website.

Kids Makerspace

Calling all parents and grandparents! Bring your little islanders ages 6 to 12 to the LBI Museum for fun and learning on Mondays from 10:30 AM - NOON, all summer!

“MAKERSPACE at the Museum on Mondays” is a great experience for everyone. Last Monday the children enjoyed seeing how tall a “building” or how large a “construction” they could make using only pipe cleaners. But first they, in three groups, everyone enjoyed a tour of the museum’s Victorian rooms, and displays. Amazing was the kitchen equipment, a child’s bedroom and clothes, and all the funny toys Beach Haven children had to play with a century ago.

During refreshments on the porch children and parents were treated to a loud blast through an old ship's megaphone showing the only way the sailor at the top of the mast could communicate with the crew on deck in those days.

The LBI HISTORICAL MUSEUM, is located at Engleside Avenue in Beach Haven.

Festival of the Sea

Festival of the Sea

Everyone enjoys the excitement of a summer carnival. It brings out the child in all of us. Since 1975, St. Francis of Assisi Parish has been hosting the Festival of the Sea Carnival, annually. The Festival of the Sea begins Wednesday, August 8th, and continues through Sunday, August 12th, 2018.

The carnival will be open nightly (weather permitting) from 6:00pm to 10:00pm. The Festival of the Sea came together 40 years ago as a celebration of the community. The Festival is held at the St. Francis Parish & Center grounds, located at 4700 Long Beach Blvd., Brant Beach, NJ.

Admission is FREE! Don’t forget to take the LBI Shuttle to the Festival! Ticket options for rides are available and you can enjoy all the rides you want - all night long. There will be delicious carnival food favorites, pizza, seafood, ice cream and much more. Maybe you’ll win a souvenir at one of the many game booths. Join us on August 11, 2018 at noon for the MANAHOPKIN Craft Beer and Music Festival at the Manahawkin Lake Park! Like good beer? Like good music? This is an event not to be missed. Alaia Surfboard Shaping Class

Alaia Surfboard Shaping Class

Shape your own Alaia and learn the history of the original surfboard. Create a solid wooden finless board with nearly all hand tools while learning many aspects of woodworking and basics of surfboard shaping. By the end of the class, you will walk away with a rideable six foot long western red cedar board you built with your own two hands and an understanding of what goes into making a surfboard function properly in the ocean. No prior knowledge is required, just a sense of adventure for fun!

30th Annual Fine Arts Festival

On July 21 and July 22, The Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts and Sciences (LBIF) is hosting the 30th Annual Fine Arts Festival, a juried event curated by The MakeShift Union (MSU). 

Over the course of the weekend, guests are invited to shop the tents of both local and visiting artisans whose crafts include painting, photography, sculpture, metalwork, digital art, jewelry, ceramics, glass, mixed media and more. With a wide variety of items to choose from, there promises to be something for everyone including the discovery of new techniques, styles and designs. 

Come for the art and stay for the food, drink and entertainment including Sunny Rae’s Kitchen, Try Vegan Food Truck, Pinelands Brewery and Sahara Moon on the guitar! In addition, and fast becoming a festival favorite, the LBIF will be serving up ice cream sundaes in limited edition bowls handmade especially for the event by the talented LBIF ceramic residents. Head into the main gallery for more art vendors but be sure to hit the Blai Room for this delicious and artistic treat. 

MSU is a community-driven event company which hosts and curates a variety of shows each year that vary in scope and size ranging from a dozen vendors to, most notably, 150+ vendors at their flagship event, The Makers Festival. MSU is proud to partner with the LBIF on the 30th Annual Fine Arts Festival and has been working hard putting together a roster of artists that boast both diverse talents and quality products, some of whom are new to this event and will offer a novel experience for guests visiting this long-standing show.

Festival times run from 10a-5p both days and the entrance fee is a $5 donation. This event is one of the LBIF’s largest fundraisers and each donation goes directly toward helping to sustain the arts and cultural programs on LBI. The LBIF is located at 120 Long Beach Blvd. in Loveladies, NJ.

31st Annual Art Festival Sunset Park Harvey Cedars

The Harvey Cedars Activity Committee is sponsoring the 31st Annual Art and Fine Crafts Exhibition and Sale at Sunset Park located at Long Beach Blvd. and W. Salem Ave., Harvey Cedars, on Sunday July 15, 2018 from 10:00am - 4:00pm. Discover unique one of a kind productions, paintings, pottery, fiber art, photography, jewelry and mixed media by independent artists.
