A coastal storm will impact our area through Saturday October 27, 2018
Coastal Flooding:
Major coastal Flooding possible on for the southern shores of the Raritan Bay. Moderate coastal flooding is possible for southern portions of Delaware along the Bay and Delaware Beaches, the New Jersey shore and immediate back bays. Minor coastal flooding is possible along the northern shores of the Delaware Bay and tidal portions of the Delaware River.
Winds:
Wind gusts up to 50 to 60 mph are expected along the southern shores of the Raritan Bay and the northern and central New Jersey Atlantic Shore. Along the southern New Jersey Atlantic shore, gusts up to 50 mph are expected. Elsewhere, gusts up to 40 mph are possible, primarily for coastal locations and higher elevations.
Marine:
Storm force winds expected along the northern and central New Jersey coastal waters. Gale force winds expected on the southern New Jersey and Delaware coastal waters as well as Delaware Bay.
Heavy rain:
There is a threat for heavy rain leading to Flash Flooding along the New Jersey coastal areas. There is also a threat for some localized roadway flooding for the remainder of the area tonight into Saturday morning.

Start off fall with a Beach Clean Up!
Join us at the new Cedar Bonnet Island Environmental Trail on Saturday October 13 from 11:30AM-2:00PM for our 2nd Saturday Clean Up. We’ll provide buckets, gloves, data sheets and any other supplies needed. BYOB (bring your own bucket) is encouraged as well.
All volunteers will be required to sign a waiver for Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge.
Parking is limited so we ask that you car pool or park at the Ship Bottom Boat ramp and you can walk over the trestle bridges to the location. Please exercise safety around busy Rt. 72.
Join us afterwards from 2:30-4:30PM at The Old Causeway Steak & Oyster House for an early happy hour to celebrate the hard work just accomplished.

Fall officially arrived this week, and recent cooler temperatures have the captains of the Beach Haven Charter Fishing Association starting to think about the arrival of the area’s greatest inshore sport fish, the striped bass.
Just like “snowbirds” heading down to Florida when winter arrives, the striped bass on their way south for the winter stop by local waters looking for food. When they find abundant food, they have been known to remain for quite some time. Right now with a good supply of mullet and bunker, they will be sure to stop in to fill their bellies.
To commemorate the presence of striped bass in the fall, there are several local striped bass tournaments, most for boats only. To mention a few-the Sea Shell Club, the Maximilian Foundation, the Stafford Township PBA, and the Red Men Lodge in Tuckerton all have e vents set for this fall. Most of these are for charitable causes and come with cash prizes, calcuttas, and various parties replete with good food.
Fishermen do not have to own a boat or be an expert to be competitive in one or more of these tournaments. Some of the captains of the Beach Haven Charter Fishing Association are available to take anglers out to compete in these events. A good boat and expert captain can make a difference in coming home with fish or empty handed.

On September 15th 2018, The MakeShift Union is hosting the 4th Annual Makers Festival at Manahawkin Lake Park in Manahawkin NJ. The mission of our festival is to highlight the underground current of Makers who are changing the landscape of production & consumerism in America, and more specifically, Ocean County where we live, work & play. It will be a day to celebrate the collective artistic endeavors of homegrown talent locally & beyond, and will feature over ten dozen Makers whose crafts include everything from handmade & vintage fashion, sculpting & woodworking, photography & fine art, craft beer, food and music.
